24 websites to earn money online

So it turns out that the internet is good for more than just porn and video games – you can make money off it too! Think of the internet as a giant country called Imaginationland. By playing your cards right, you can make some easy money online doing things you’re already doing. Here are some lifehacks to start you off: 1. Website Building If the internet is a country, then websites are like real estates. I’m hoping by now you have a general understanding that real estates are valuable in the physical world – digital real estates work the same way. By building a website, you’re creating your own plot of online “land.” You can fill this land with whatever you want, but you have to promote it through social media (and anywhere else you can think of) for this to be successful. When you build traffic to your land, you can sell people whatever you have to offer. In order to build a website, you need a host (i.e GoDaddy), a template (i.e WordPress), and content. The first two parts are easy to find, and content is only as difficult as you make it. You can post blogs, items for sale, pictures, videos, or whatever you want. Opening up your own website gives you the potential to make money from the avenues I’m going to mention. 2. B2B Marketing An online business model I love is utilized by GetVoiP, an affiliate marketer based in New York. GetVoiP acts as an agent for business communication providers. They maintain updated listings of VoiP providers, including ratings, comparisons, consumer reviews, in-depth knowledge of market and end-user trends, and expert opinions from business professionals on a variety of topics related to business consumers. By not only keeping abreast of news, but providing detailed analysis of products being offered, GetVoiP is able to generate traffic to their site and increase their clout with businesses. The more online clout you have as a business, the more money you’ll make. If you’re known for making lasting connections (as is the case with GetVoiP above), then you’ll have no issues building your online brand. You’ll be recognized in your community and begin to build a buzz in your industry. Tracking your numbers (how many people view your site, click each ad, and make a purchase from that click) gives you the leverage to expand this part of your business, enabling you to continue building your online rep. 3. Google Adsense If that sounds like too much technical information for you, there is an easy button – Google’s advertising platform is as simple as signing up, enabling (on Blogger) or pasting a small code on your website, and allowing the advertisements to automatically roll in. The problem with this program is that you don’t get any commissions – and you don’t get to control the ad content. This is useful for some, but powerful users will want something a little more robust. 4. Amazon Associates Amazon has an Associates program for site owners and bloggers. They offer a search tool to find the right products and services from their site and a variety of ad styles to display on your site, including text-based and banner images (digital billboards) like this: Each item purchased through your Amazon links give you a commission. It doesn’t take high volume traffic to achieve results, either. I began making money with the program when I only had 1,000 hits per month on my site. They can apply your earnings to your Amazon account balance, issue you a check, or direct deposit into your bank account. If you love Amazon, you’ll love their associate’s program. Click here for another Lifehack dedicated to Amazon Associates. 5. Rakuten Linkshare Amazon and Google are far from your only options for online advertising. Rakuten Linkshare is a great place to search for other affiliates for your ads. Through their program, you can get customized ad links, email links, and banner ads for Starbucks, Walmart, iTunes, and a slew of other popular brands. With this program, you can also find smaller companies, regional or specialized brands, and more. I run a combination of Google, Amazon, and Rakuten’s programs, and my monthly income is approximately $150 from these programs. It’s not a lot of money, but it’s also not a lot of work for residual (it means recurring…since the ads are permanent…) income. 6. Company Referral Programs Speaking of the benefits of permanent ads, banners and links aren’t the only ways to earn a little bit of dough off your online endeavors. By having a website, you gain the power of emailing companies to ask them for things. I have no shame in letting the yoga company whose mat I’m looking into purchasing know that I have a blog and write for yoga publications – it sometimes gets me discounts. Other times, I gain a valuable business contact in PR, advertising, or other aspects of corporate sales. Sometimes I just get a free drink. Either way, money in and of itself is worthless. Ditch the middle man and use the internet to barter what you have and can do for what you need. 7. Klout If you have a social media account, try out Klout. The company tracks your social media usage, determines how big and what type of audience you draw based on the subject matter of your updates and posts. Using this information, you’re qualified to receive free items, tickets, etc. Check their website often to find ways of earning free stuff by doing what you’re already doing online…boring the rest of us… 8. EBay If you have anything you want to sell, then EBay is the place you need to seriously consider doing it first. Personally I’m not a fan of the site because of the work it takes to build up a reputation. If you’re willing to grind through that process, you’ll be rewarded with many privileges – people have gotten rich selling books about how they got rich selling everything on EBay: Click here for a few tips from the pros. 9. Amazon If you start getting too big for EBay or decide you want to try a different flavor, Amazon has a marketplace as well. I prefer using Amazon because I can depend on their shipping, have a Prime account, and trust their reviews (overall, not usually singularly, although occasionally that as well). Learn more about Amazon’s marketplace by clicking on this Lifehack, and delve into the marketplace. The difference between Amazon and EBay is that EBay (though still filled with new items) is seen as a used marketplace between individual parties, whereas Amazon (which is filled with offers for new and used merchandise from the 3rd parties) is viewed as a Wal-Mart-type superstore. As a consumer, this difference leads me to use Amazon, so it only makes sense to target on my own demographic. 10. Etsy If you’re crafty (and I mean that in more than one way, wink wink), you’ll enjoy Etsy. Handcrafted items are the bread and butter here. Plenty of people make decent side money on the site, which is basically an EBay for crafters and artists. Set up a sellers account with Etsy, and you’ll be asked to set up your virtual storefront and put up at least 5 goods for sale. Once you have this down, you’ll be a budding Etsy entrepreneur. Provide great quality to your customers, and they’ll often return. Many people are willing to pay a premium for quality handmade designs. Etsy (like EBay and Amazon) takes a cut off the top for selling items through their site. PayPal takes another cut, and you have to be careful with taxes on all income, so be diligent while building your online business. 11. Craigslist Craigslist is the modern equivalent of the classified ads that dominated the days of newspapers. These quick ads are easy to navigate and use, and they’re geographically linked. Whether you’re selling something or offering a service, this lifehack is a great place to start learning the intricacies of Craigslist. Posting ads on Craigslist is technically easy, but people often have fears about posting their personal information on the site. I communicate mostly through email when doing business on Craigslist, and I’ve never run into any issues. I’ve never been ripped off, nor have I been murdered or raped for using the site. It takes common sense, so use your best judgment, but don’t assume someone is a thief just because of their preferred communication method. For an extra bonus, google “funny Craigslist ads” to see some delightful examples of guerilla and grassroots marketing. 12. Indeed Maybe what you need is a job. It doesn’t matter which job search site you prefer using (even Craigslist) – Indeed tracks them all, and then some. You can find jobs posted on company websites, through temp agencies, and more at Indeed. If money is something you really need, Indeed is most definitely the place you want to visit to browse career opportunities. 13. Elance Where Indeed excels at finding job postings across the web and acting as a search crawler for employment, maybe a full-fledged career is too big of a commitment at this point in your life. Elance is a site to find freelance work of all types. I’ve used it for quick writing, editing, copywriting, resume building, and other odd jobs and temp gigs. The experience has been great. Elance offers a wide array of technical, data entry, accounting, and other freelance and temp gigs. If you’re just looking for something short and sweet, log in, input and showcase your marketable skills, and begin searching through their job database, using any parameters you desire. Once you submit a bid, you’ll receive an acceptance or denial – you may get a few rejections, but don’t sweat it. Negotiate the terms of your bid, and get to work. You have money to make. 14. Mturk If you’ve heard of crowdsourcing (and even if you haven’t), Amazon’s Mechanical Turk program is a great place to get involved. Much like at Elance, you input your info and skills. You then are able to search for different menial tasks ranging from identifying inappropriate web content to transcribing audio recordings to basic data entry work. Just like at any other job, the more work you do, and the better your quality, the more opportunities you’ll have to make money. The payouts are often small, and your payment is received in Amazon credit, but Mturk is a great place to make mindless money while veg’ing on the couch watching TV. 15. LinkedIn LinkedIn is a social media site for professionals. This isn’t a direct way to make money, but it’s a great way to connect to your current and potential peers, customers, clients, vendors, and more here. You’ll build a reputation and get in the loop on important developments in your chosen career path and/or industry. One day an old college buddy may hit you up for a dream job you never considered at the exact moment you are looking for a new vocation. Whether you like it or not, keeping your LinkedIn profile current is a great way to get surprised with new work opportunities out the blue. 16. Care.com If you’re an experienced nanny or babysitter, Care.com is the place you want to make money. By listing yourself on the Craigslist of Childcare, you’ll broaden your reach and increase your odds of finding the right gig at the right time. You can be pickier with what kids you watch when you have the reputation and traffic to pull in more customers. Join Care.com and start making money by investing in the future of our youth. 17. ThePirateBay I support bootlegging – I don’t see it as being immoral or unethical in any way. I used to bootleg quite a bit in my youth, and I still do on occasion today (although not yet today in particular, I more meant “in the present”). If you want to hustle for your money, do what you must, baby. Download some software, music, movies, or other assorted digital goodness here and start slangin. It’s not an easy life, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. 18. iTunes If you’re a musician, writer, artist, tech nerd, pundit, or can produce any type of audio, video, or text worth consuming, you may be able to sell some stuff in Apple’s flagship iTunes store. By selling your work here, you’re able to stand next to the marketing clout of big business. You can make a healthy living off the iTunes store, and there’s no better time than now. Learn more about iTunes with this lifehack. 19. Yelp! If you have a business, you want to get listed on Yelp! You may not use the software, but some people do, and they use it religiously (and I don’t mean they’ll kill you over it). By listing your business on Yelp!, you’re putting yourself on the map. From here, you also need to start using Yelp! Write reviews of places you go. It’ll be worth it in the long run. Soon, you’ll have a dozen or so reviews under your belt and can hire yourself out as a Yelp! reviewer. There are ethical and moral questions to doing this, but the title of this piece is “ways to make money,” not “ethical ways to make money,” and I am a former Bank of America/Countrywide employee, so what’d you expect? 20. Wikipedia Another seemingly free site you can make money from is Wikipedia. People who say it’s easy to edit Wikipedia have clearly never tried editing Wikipedia – it’s a pain. Thankfully it’s a pain for companies as well, so many of them are willing to pay editors to assist them in the editing process. You’ll become a bounty hunter in a way, choosing your own lines to cross and keep. If editing is something you like to do, and you’re willing to put in the work it takes to learn Wikipedia’s dispute process, roll up your sleeves and try this one out. 21. Blogging I make the bulk of my money from blogging. In addition to the advertising revenue streams mentioned above, I also receive flat rate payments for blogging from various blogs throughout the web. I’m paid to write as a whistleblower, financial analyst, reviewer, commentator, and more. Writing for other sites builds traffic to my personal blog. The traffic for this blog gives me clout to present to advertisers. To create your own blog, you don’t even need a web domain. You can start a completely free blog on either WordPress or Blogger. Each of these sites has its ups and downs, but you can’t beat the price. You generally want to keep blog posts between 150-500 words until you have a few dozen under your belt. Links between your blog posts encourage people to stay on your blog once they find it, increasing traffic. Once your blog is up, promote it on social media for the greatest effect. 22. Kickstarter If you have a passion project, Kickstarter may be exactly what you need to get it off the ground. Celebs like Zach Braff and Melissa Joan Hart have used this site in attempts to fund their movie projects. Some crack dealers in Canada inspired a “crackstarter” campaign from Gawker for pictures of the Toronto mayor smoking crack with them. All you need is a dream, a goal, a budget, and a great pitch to convince people to come to the site and donate to your Kickstarter campaign. Panhandling isn’t dead – it’s gone digital… 23. Extreme Couponing If you’ve never heard of extreme couponing, check out this lifehack on the subject. Once you’re versed on the idea, what you have to do is a bit difficult at first, but it’s a great way to both save and make money: go to hip2save.com and get a feel for the types of deals that are out there (both online and in the physical world). Once you’re comfortable with the process, start searching for the best deals in grocery, retail, and online shopping. After a month or two of extreme couponing, you’ll have enough cleaning, hygiene, and food supplies stocked up to save a noticeable amount of money. Now maybe you don’t need to make as much…? 24. Social Media No matter what you do to make money online, promote it on your social media accounts. You have a base of people who are already interested in you and have a vested interest in your brand – why would you not want to take advantage of that? By promoting yourself and your projects on your social media accounts, you’re greatly increasing the chances of people actually giving you money in exchange for your goods and services. best 13 ways to earn online

If you want to make a little spending money from home or earn a full-time salary, now’s the time — especially if you have a computer. Just going online opens up a host of opportunities. The trick is knowing which businesses are legitimate. Here are my top picks. Sell your crafts Do you knit? Make jewelry? Sew? If so, there are lots of opportunities to sell handmade wares online. As a member of Etsy ( etsy.com), you’ll have your own online store to showcase your items. It’s free to become an Etsy seller, but you’ll pay a fee of 20¢ to list an item with up to five photos for four months. When the item sells, you pay a 3.5 percent commission to Etsy. There’s no limit to how much you can charge, and what you earn is based on how your crafts sell. At Jewelry Wonder ( jewelrywonder.com), sellers must have at least 30 items to open a free online store. There’s no charge to sellers — no setup fee, monthly or transaction fees, or listing or hosting fees. And sellers set their own prices, so the sky’s the limit. ArtFire ( artfire.com) is the home of artists, crafters, suppliers and media creators from around the world. Sellers can choose either a basic free account that includes unlimited listings with four pictures per item plus the ability to sell directly from your blog or website, or a Pro account for $15.95 a month with 10 pictures per item plus a customizable “store” and promo features. There are no transaction fees on ArtFire, so you keep what you make. The site also offers online training in merchandising and marketing. Make money from your talent At Fiverr ( fiverr.com), you can offer services that use your skills — designing a business card, creating a podcast jingle, planning a trip — for five bucks a pop. Fiverr keeps $1 and the seller gets $4 per gig. Stefanie Strobel, 28, of Newport Beach, California, writes people’s messages in the sand at the beach and takes a picture that she then emails to them. “I make about $300 per month and can do about 10 to 15 messages per hour, depending on length and complexity,” says Stefanie. Be a nurse on call If you’re a registered nurse, consider a company like Fonemed ( fonemed.com), which provides phone-based triage and medical information to their customers in Canada and the U.S. These companies contract with medical-related clients, mostly doctor’s offices and especially pediatrician’s offices, to answer questions when the offices are closed (the work hours are typically evenings, nights and weekends). You must be licensed in the state or province where you are located and have at least three years of recent clinical experience with adults and children. Fonemed nurses are paid an hourly minimum plus a fee per call, and are eligible for benefits like health insurance and paid leave. A typical Fonemed nurse makes $27 per hour, according to Fonemed owner Charlene Slaney. Advertise Write, edit, proofread Sites like Demand Studios ( demandstudios.com) and Associated Content ( associatedcontent.com) hire experienced freelance writers, editors and filmmakers to work on projects for sites like eHow, LiveStrong.com and YouTube. At Demand Studios, assignments pay anywhere from $15 to $100; if you meet tenure and activity requirements, you can be eligible for health insurance plans. At Associated Content there are three ways to earn money: Upfront payments for content you write ($2 to $15 per article), assigned articles ($10 to $100 per article) and performance payments ($1.50 for every 1,000 page views of your article if it’s posted online). Design graphics and websites Elance ( elance.com) works like an online marketplace, setting up designers and computer programmers with companies that need their services. Companies post jobs and freelancers bid on them, listing their experience, portfolio and the price they will charge for the job. If your bid is chosen, you’ll pay Elance a commission of 4 to 6 percent of what you earn. Tutor kids or adults If you have a college degree or are currently enrolled in college and think you have the skills to tutor math, science, English or social studies, tutoring online might fit you perfectly. Check out Tutor.com, where tutors work as independent contractors and earn around $10 to $14 per hour based on the subject and hours worked. Very active tutors can earn anywhere from $800 to $1,600 a month. Give advice Know a lot about medicine or car repairs? JustAnswer ( justanswer.com) is a paid question-and-answer site that’s growing its community of experts in the medical, legal and financial fields, as well as in other specialties like car repair and home improvement. Registered customers ask a question and then name the price they’re willing to pay (usually from $10 to $40) for an expert answer. The expert usually responds within an hour, and once the customer accepts the answer, keeps from 25 to 50 percent of what the customer pays. How much experts earn depends on how many questions they’ve had accepted by customers. Experts are vetted through a fairly grueling process, with credentials, education and background verified. Provide customer service Many retailers are outsourcing their customer service operations to third-party companies like Alpine Access ( alpineaccess.com) and Working Solutions ( workingsolutions.com), who in turn contract with home-based workers. The reps, who typically work 20 to 40 hours a week, take calls for large and small companies. The hourly rate is about $9, but agents can earn up to $13 with incentives and bonuses or up to $30 for special projects. Some companies offer benefits like health and dental insurance and a matching 401(k) plan. LiveOps ( liveops.com) is similar, but service reps operate as independent contractors, typically invoicing LiveOps $10 to $15 per hour depending on the type of call and performance. And with LiveOps you can work as many hours as you want. The hiring process is rigorous: Expect a comprehensive written or online application, skills exam, phone interview and background check. Make a little spending money When career librarian Rachel Singer Gordon, 40, of Lombard, Illinois, quit her job in 2005 to take care of her children and pursue freelance writing, she knew she’d need to find other sources of income to supplement her writing. She dove headlong into couponing and frugality, and became a wizard at finding ways to earn money online. Soon Rachel was bringing in small amounts of income from lots of sources she calls “multiple profit centers.” “They’re the equivalent of a nice, steady part-time job,” says Rachel. In 2009, she started the blog Mashup Mom ( mashupmom.com) to share all the stuff she was learning. In fewer than two years, the blog has become yet another profit center for Rachel, as has her first book, Point, Click, and Save: Mashup Mom’s Guide to Saving and Making Money Online. Tap into multiple profit centers with Rachel’s favorites. Launch a blog. “If you have something interesting to say, grow your readership, post ads and earn some dough,” says Rachel. Start your blog at a free site (go to blogger.com or wordpress.com ), then go to Google AdSense ( google.com/adsense) or the affiliate program at Amazon.com ( affiliate-program.amazon.com) to feature advertising on your site. With AdSense, you make a little bit every time someone clicks on one of the ads hosted on your site. With Amazon’s program, you earn a small commission when someone clicks through on an ad and makes a purchase at Amazon. The income will start small, but if you build your following, your cash flow will increase. Rachel typically makes several hundred dollars per month from ads or affiliate links on her blog. Give your opinion. At MySurvey.com, Surveyhead.com or ValuedOpinions.com, you can sign up to take surveys about products and services and get paid for it. Sites typically pay $2 to $5 per completed survey and will send you a check or deposit to your PayPal account, or gift cards or merchandise once you reach $20 in your survey account. Scam alert! There are lots of survey sites out there, but not all are trustworthy. Avoid participating in anything that charges a fee up front to participate. “I try to take three or four surveys each week while the kids are watching TV, and that brings in $20 to $30 per month,” says Rachel. Search the Internet. Rachel loves to scour the Web, and one of her favorite things to do is use Swag Bucks ( swagbucks.com) as her search engine instead of, say, Google or Yahoo. By doing this, she earns Swag Bucks points — called “SBs” on the website — redeemable for merchandise like Target gift cards and beauty products. (Maximize the number of points you earn by installing the Swag Bucks toolbar on your computer.) You can also earn more Swag Bucks points by taking the site’s daily poll and by participating in the company’s “trusted surveys.” But be warned, it could take awhile to accumulate SBs. A $300 Apple gift card, for example, costs 37,000 SB. If you don’t want prizes, you can trade your Swag Bucks points for PayPal deposits into your account. Do online tasks. Have a few extra minutes with nothing to do? Companies like Amazon.com’s Mechanical Turk ( mturk.com) will pay you to complete little tasks that they need done, such as searching the Web for certain products or answering questions and giving opinions. There’s usually a time limit of anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, and pay ranges from a few cents to a few dollars. This may not sound like a lot, but do enough tasks and you’ve earned yourself some extra spending money.

600+ ways to make money online without investment

500+ Ways To Make Money Online For the last two years I have been earning my money entirely online. Yes, making money online has a bit of a scammy sound to it but for many people it is a reality, and I am not exaggerating when I say there are regular people earning 5+ figure a month salaries completely through their online endeavors. However, for every one of those there are probably hundreds of people who are not earning a dime online despite trying to. And yet there is something very sweet about earning that first dime online. It’s motivation to pursue it further. I remember the first few dollars Vicky and I earned through her food blog by putting up a few adsense ads. It wasn’t much, but it was the start of us earning a few hundred dollars, then a few thousand, and now over ten thousand dollars every month. In this post we are going to explore the many ways that people are earning money online. I have scoured the web looking for the best posts about making money online as well as doing my own research to find individual websites/companies, so that I could compile what is no doubt the most comprehensive list to date of ways to make money online. Please enjoy this list and PLEASE SHARE so that others may benefit from this research. Not only have I spent many hours putting this together, but by using assistants to help with research and formatting, spent money. But it’s worth it to bring you what I consider to be valuable content! Additionally, some people have commented that they found this list overwhelming, so I have put together a Make Money Online Starter Pack. Exclusive Bonus: Download my free Make $Money$ Online starter pack. Includes the 15 tools I use daily to run my business plus links to 30 income reports from bloggers who made $300k+ online. In fact, if you would like to share it right now, you can do so and download a PDF at the same time – trust me, you won’t regret it! The vast majority of these links (98%+) are not affiliate. Lastly, please do not expect to turn this list into a 5 figure a month income, at least right off the bat. Though it is true that many people are using the below websites to do just that, it is often the result of a lot of hard work and time spent building websites, an audience, etc. This is not a get rich quick scheme. It took me nearly a year before I was earning a few thousand dollars a month online, and I actually consider that rather quick. Before diving into anything I highly recommend that you do a quick search along the lines of “review of company X” to see the results of people who have tried these strategies in depth. Also check the sources at the end as they may provide more in depth reports on specific websites. Don’t confuse an attractive website with legitimacy. Moreover, be suspicious of any site that requires you to pay to join. CHAPTER 1: WRITING writing In this section we highlight ways you can make money from writing. In my experience, if there is one skill that trumps all others in effectively earning money online it is the ability to write. No other skill has the versatility that writing has. Good writers are sorely underrepresented. If you can write, you can earn money online (with or without a blog) – guaranteed! 1.1 Blogging The act of blogging in and of itself is often free, but that doesn’t mean that blogging can’t serve as a useful platform from which you can earn money online. Many people are earning over 5 figures a month “just blogging”, by combining it with things like affiliate sales, ad networks, and paid reviews. Go to the last chapter of this post to see all of the blogger income reports I have collected. There are thousands of blogs started everyday and most of them die off over the course of a few months/years. From personal experience I think it is best to start a blog with a purpose/passion – aside from making money. This will help you to be successful in the long run, as it is normal to spend many months blogging without earning anything. Here are some of the best blogging sites you can use to get started: How To Start A Blog - a post I wrote that will get you up and blogging in a matter of minutes. Blog.com - Creates a free blog and hosts it for you for free. Your domain will look like yourdomain.blog.com. Blogger.com - Free weblog publishing tool from Google, for sharing text, photos and video. Quick and easy to setup and links with your Gmail account. Tumblr - Post anything (from anywhere!), customize everything, and find and follow what you love. WordPress.com - Free blogs managed by the developers of the WordPress software. Includes custom design templates, integrated statistics, automatic spam protection . You domain will look like yourdomain.wordpress.com It’s different from Word Press.org. WordPress.org - A web software you can use to create a beautiful website or blog, with your own domain name. 1.2 Blog/Website Monetization If you have a blog or a website with content and a following, I’m going to discuss a few ways you can monetize it through advertising and information products. Concerning the latter, you certainly don’t need a blog to pull it off. Anyone can sell an ebook, for example. But it is just so typical for bloggers to do these things, because they tend to be more successful when you have an audience, that I decided to include them in this section. Still, if you don’t have a blog, you just need to think of another way to reach your target audience (like a forum, or a simple landing page). 1.2.1 Contextual Links and Sponsored Posts If you have a blog there are many ways you can monetize the writing portion of it, such as reviews, sponsored posts, and more. This is actually how I started earning serious money online. Often, companies will pay you to link to them on your blog because they want the increased exposure as well as the “link juice” that they get from an inbound link to their website. Be careful with this one because in some instances it can violate Google’s TOS, which, in the most extreme circumstances, can result in your website being removed from the search engines. Smorty – Smorty is a community site that helps bloggers generate a better income, and it could be defined as a network devoted to blog advertising. The site is split into two main sections. Earn $6 to $100 dollars per post you write on your blog, depending on the overall popularity and page rank of your blog. SponsoredReviews - A blog post service that connects advertisers with bloggers willing to write paid posts about their services and products. They charge a 35% transaction fee for their services. Teliad - SEO company for international backlinks & blogs. I have personally used Teliad and made nearly $1k doing so. They pay monthly. Teliad Every month I receive ~$130 from Teliad 1.2.2 eBooks It seems that just about every popular blogger has their own ebook(s) these days. Part of the reason is that there are just so few barriers to entry – if you want to write a book and self publish, go ahead! It can be a “passive” income stream for life (though that should not be confused with the fact that it can be a lot of upfront work). bookbaby.com – Sell more eBooks with a professionally designed cover. The industry’s best place for valuable tips on how to promote and sell your book. flickrocket.com – Set up your ebook own shop. kindle.amazon.com – The Amazon Kindle is a series of e-book readers designed and marketed by Amazon.com. Sell your ebooks to your fans and followers and get paid instantly via PayPal. secure-ebook.com – A website with an integrated Blog engine that will help you sell more eBooks; The renowned Secure-eBook fully automated purchase process. 1.2.3 Podcasting Podcasting is all the rage lately and it is becoming the new, preferred form over content to connect with your audience. In addition, it can also be a lucrative form of income if you draw in enough of an audience. Consider Entrepreneur On Fire, a podcasting series/blog, which makes over $40k per month on direct advertising through their podcasting. Here are some popular business podcasts: ENTREPRENEUR ON FIRE – John Lee Dumas SIX PIXELS OF SEPARATION – Mitch Joel MARKETING OVER COFFEE – Chris Penn and John Wall MARKETING SMARTS – Kerry O’Shea Gorgone of marketingprofs THE ENTREPRENEUR’S RADIO SHOW – Travis Jenkins SOCIAL TRIGGERS INSIDER – Derek Halpern EBOOK NINJAS – Joshua Tallent, Toby Stevenson, Chris Casey INSIDE PR – Gini Detrich, Joseph Thornley and Martin Waxman 350 THIRD – Anders Brownworth, Scott Barstow EVENTUAL MILLIONAIRE – Jaime Tardy YOUR GRAND IDEA – Todd Skaggs and Kevin Carter THE SOLOMO SHOW – Cory O’Brien & Adam Helweh THE FRIDAY FIVE – Tom Webster THE WORK TALK SHOW – DJ Waldow and Nick Westergaard INSPIRING WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT – Zig Ziglar ONLINE MARKETING MADE EASY – Amy Porterfield THE FIZZLE SHOW – Corbett Barr, Chase Reeve & Caleb Wojcik THE START UP SHOW – Seth Godin PODCAST ANSWER MAN – Cliff Ravenscraft THIS IS YOUR LIFE – Michael Hyatt SMART PASSIVE INCOME – Pat Flynn A&B GROUP THERAPY (Music Podcast) 1.2.4 Online Courses I ran my first online course last year and made over $2500 doing so. I also made a bunch of contacts from talented individuals who took the class. Again it requires a lot of upfront work but the ongoing work can be significantly less by comparison. There are many platforms that are built for you to specifically offer courses. Or you can simply create your own on your website through a series of emails. All of these are essentially free platforms for creating online courses: Claroline Coursecraft Coursesites Learnotopia Moodle Pathwright Peer 2 Peer University Rcampus Udemy 1.2.5 Membership Site Although this has been around forever I’ve particularly started noticing it quite recently and I LOVE IT. At least as a business model. The idea is basically to create a community of like-minded individuals and give them access to each other as well as instruction to help them achieve their mutal goals. The math on these is quite astounding, as you generally see people charge between $20-$100/month. That means for each sign up they are getting a monthly recurring income of $20-$100. So, if you can get a few hundred sign ups leveraging your audience, well, do the math. A few of the ones I am aware of (though there are many, that’s for sure) are: Entrepreneur On Fire’s Podcasting Paradise – A community for podcasters from John Dumas. Sean Ogle’s Enter China - Creating a community for people who want to do business in China. Tom Ewer Freelance Writing – Community for Freelance Writers (coming soon). Tropical MBA’s Dynamite Circle – An invite only community for entrepreneurs. I currently belong to this one. Tung Tran Cloud Living Membership - Community For niche website builders. 1.2.6 PPC (Pay Per Click) Marketing Most people have heard of adsense, which is Google’s advertising network. In reality, this is only one of over a hundred different ad networks. These ads work off a variety of models whereby your pay is relative to the exposure the ad gets. What is actually required (a view, a click, a sign up) varies. Ads come in a variety of forms, such as banners (of all different sizes), links, videos, and more. Pay per click marketing means that you get paid every time the ad gets clicked. It is one of the most common forms of ad networks because, unlike a view, the advertiser has greater confidence that the user has purposefully interacted with the ad in some way. Chitika - Develops real-time, scalable, on-demand contextual targeting services to help online businesses leverage their two biggest assets: content and online. Similar to AdSense. Clicksor - Clicksor offers webmasters the opportunity to earn additional income by using a selection of clickable text or targeted contextual banners on their websites or blogs. Payment is done by check or direct deposit with a minimum payout of $100. Infolinks – Infolinks leads the online advertising industry by driving new revenue opportunities for publishers while overcoming banner blindness for advertisers. Payment method PayPal, or check, minimum payouts are $50. Media.net - Bing Network Contextual Ads program enables web publishers to easily and effectively earn advertising revenue. Speedy Ads – Pay Per Click advertising 1.2.7 PPV (Pay-Per-View) Advertising Pay per view advertising is similar to pay per click, except you can replace click with view. Your pay is largely based on the traffic you bring to the ad. In general, ppv rates are lower than ppc because less is required of the user. For example, while 1000 people might see an ad, it is possible that only 5 (or less) will click it. AdBrite – Approve or reject any ads purchased for your sites. You can also sell ads direct with “Your Ad Here” links. AdKnowledge – Adknowledge is a digital advertising marketplace that efficiently gets results for your message wherever your audience happens to be: desktop, laptop, tablet or. I have also started to see this now more than ever, and it is individuals renting out their private blog networks for links. Some SEOs are saying that one of the best ways to achieve rankings in the SERPS is through private blog networks, as they are very powerful and direct. Here are a few private blog network services: Authority Website Income – Private Blog Network service by Jon. CloudIncome’s Rank Source – Private Blog Network run by Lewis Ogden. God of SEO’s PBN - Private Blog Network run by Charles Floate. ScrewThe9To5 PBN - Private Blog Network run by Josh and Jill. 1.3 Revenue Sharing If you don’t have a blog of your own, there are plenty of other platforms that you can write for. Many websites operate as large, content networks that allow people to write for them. In exchange, they will put ads in your writing and give you a revenue share of what your articles make. The benefit here is that they receive a lot of traffic, so receiving 75% commission on the ad revenue that these sites produce might be better than 100% on your own blog if it doesn’t receive much traffic. The downside is that you are building up another person’s website instead of building something for yourself. 451 Press - Write about various subject. Receive forty percent of all generated revenue. Personally I have hired nearly a dozen writers to write articles for me and paid thousands of dollars to freelance writers. There is definitely a huge demand for it although there is a lot of competition. I will not go into details on how best to become a freelance writer, as there are more experienced people to tell you that, however I do believe at least one aspect of it is building up a reputation. Some of these sites can help you get start. Associated Content – Submit your content and get paid relative to the views it gets. Break Studios - Freelancing writing work. CHAPTER 2: SELLING selling If you have a product, there is probably a platform through which you can sell it. If you don’t have a product, there are many products that other people have that you can sell for a commission (known as affiliate marketing). Either way, don’t discount your assets as a viable means to make a sale. 2.1 Affiliate Marketing While the concept of selling a product that is not yours might seem strange at first it is actually quite common. Many companies will allow this because it allows them to reach an audience that they otherwise would not. It is like hiring a bunch of sales representatives on commission. In addition, if you have a product or website in mind you can simply search “website affiliate program” and if it has one chances are it will come up. A few years later and she is consistently making over a grand a month on average. Really, a website is just like online real estate. You own a plot of land in the World Wide Web. What you do with it can increase or decrease its asset value. The more money it makes, the more valuable it is. I have seen websites sell for 6 figures many times. The beautiful part of it is that people generally pay between 10 and 20 times the monthly profit, so if you have a website that is bringing in a bit of cash you can potentially sell it for a pretty penny. Here are some market places for buying and selling websites. Buy Sell Website – Search hundreds of websites for sale.Buy or sell websites and domain names. I have personally bought on Flippa over a dozen times and in many cases it has been successful. 2.2.7 Domain Names Yes, even if you just own a domain name you can sell it. In fact, some domain names have sold for tens of thousands of dollars due to their high demand/relevancy (think like websites.com). Some people even make a business (albeit it an annoying one) out of “squatting”; buying up domains and trying to sell them later to interested parties. I heard once that someone, anticipating the growth of Starbucks, went and bought up starbucks.com in other countries (i.e starbucks.ru) and probably made a pretty penny doing so. AfterMarket - Buy domain names, purchase registered domains, list domains for sale in a number of different ways, and sell domains safely and securely. Takes a 10% commission. Remember, anything you own can be an asset if it has value to someone else! 707 Sportscards - One of the largest buyers and sellers of old baseball cards, PSA Graded Cards, and Allstate Display Cases. In many cases large retail stores like Best Buy and Sam’s Club have exchange programs. It’s great exploring these options because you can see how much an asset is worth even if it is used. In this sense you can look at everything you purchase as coming at somewhat of a discount. For example, if you buy a phone for $100 but are savvy enough to know that you can trade it in for $20 a few years later, it is like getting it for only $80. ASOS Marketplace - List items from your wardrobe. Takes a 5% commission when items sell. Best Buy – Well known retailer who also buys second hand. My Bone Yard – Helps people recycle their gadgets O2 Recycle – Recycle your gadget for cash. Preloved – Turn clutter into cash by selling on Preloved. Sams Club – Exceptional wholesale club values on TVs, mattresses, business and office supplies etc. 2.2.10 Souls OK, this is more of a lesson in getting creative. You have to think outside of the box. What do you have rights to that someone might value enough to pay for? This might be extreme but I think it shows you the limits of just what you can sell online. Demonical - Sell your soul for $5 or auction it off to the highest bidder. 2.2.11 Your Designs There are platforms out there that allow you to design a product (think t-shirts, mugs, books, etc) and sell it through their website. This allows you to bypass the upfront cost of having to create and store the product as well as leverage the existing audience the website has. It is great especially if you want to test an idea and establish whether or not there exists a market. Blurb – Create and publish bookstore-quality books with free software for PC or Mac. CHAPTER 3: RENTING renting Many people want things temporarily and therefore are not in the market to buy, but to rent. If you own space for example, you can rent it. Many people rent out spare rooms, apartments, etc. I even know people who rent out their only apartment (and crash at their girlfriend’s place if someone rents it). 9Flats – On 9flats.com you can find vacation rentals, apartments and guest houses, owned by friendly locals across the world. CHAPTER 5: FINANCE Finance Of course a lot of finance is conducted primarily online, however, one should approach this with an added degree of caution, since this is one of the few parts of this post where you can actually lose money by attempting it (the other being gambling to be discussed later). 5.1 Peer-to-Peer Lending This is a relatively new concept where people fund loans for other people, essentially cutting out the bank. I’ve experimented with this a bit myself without much success, though I have seen reports from other trustworthy people who are showcasing 5%+ returns on their loans. Community Lend – Similar to Lending Club, but for Canada residents. Lending Club – (U.S. Residents Only) Peer to peer lending, which starts in increments $25. I have used lending club myself and frankly have not seen exciting returns (currently around 2%) on account of a few defaults on several loans. I also feel that in order to properly diversify (spread out over a bunch of different loans) it takes a fair amount of time to research the loans and find the right ones for your strategy. I started with an account of $2k and it now shows a value of $2016 after at least 6 months. But if you consider payments past due as future bad loans, I've actually lost money. I started with $2k and it now shows $2016 after 6+ months. But if you consider payments past due as future bad loans, I’ve actually lost money. Prosper – Operates slightly differently from Lending Club in that I believe you bid on loans. 5.2 Stock Trading If you want to throw your hat into the ring and try day trading, there are many brokers out there. Charles Schwab – I have a bank account with them that doubles as an investment account because they have no international fees for ATM withdrawals. E*TRADE – Online discount stock brokerage service for self-directed investors. Fidelity – Another broker I use. Interactive Brokers – One of my personal brokers, only $1 commissions on trades. TD Ameritrade - Broker for online stock trading, long-term investing, and retirement planning. Trade King - TradeKing is an online broker providing tools and research for online trading of stocks, options, bonds and more. 5.3 Switch Your Bank Account Banks are always trying to offer incentives to get you to switch over to them. If you are willing to go through the hassle (which, nowadays is not so much of a hassle), you can be nicely rewarded. Check out this article on how you can earn between 100-200 pounds simply by switching banks. 5.4 Sign Up For A Credit Card Similarly many credit cards have sign up bonuses that can be worth hundreds of dollars. Do read the fine print though as some of these require specific actions (like spending $X in Y months). Others have annual fees. Still I have easily received over $1k in value simply by signing up at the right time and following through. Here are a few of the best ones right now. Best Rewards Credit Cards Best Airline Credit Cards Best Travel Credit Cards Best Credit Card Sign Bonuses 5.5 Check For A Lost Account My Lost Account – If you’re located in the UK and might have lost/forgotten about an account, why not check? CHAPTER 6: GAMBLING gambling Since we just discussed finance we might as well discuss gambling. Yes, another one that you should be careful with, but I do know two friends of mine who have won thousands of dollars in online poker, and therefore it is worth mentioning. In addition to poker there is also bingo, sports betting, casino games and more. For example, I have hired programmers, graphic designers, SEO consultants, writers and many more different kinds of freelancers off some of the sites mentioned here. 7.1 Gigs Websites What would you do for $5? On these websites you can offer a wide range of services as long as you only charge the specified amount. It does often allow you to try for an upsell. Dollar3 - Dollar3.com has been acquired by GigsBull. A gig site with price point in multiples of $3, starting at $3. Fittytown - The town where everything is $50. I’ve done this before and it works great in the hospitality field such as by writing restaurant reviews. Often you have to go to the site and perform some tasks (for example sit down and order a meal). Later when you return you fill out a survey (did the waiter say hello, that sort of thing) as well as a quick write up. Payment often includes the cost of the meal AND a set wage per project (varies but could easily be $25-$50 and potentially more). It’s great if it is a place you are already interested in going to, like a restaurant, since the budgets for meals can be pretty high.
