They are the people in the LinkedIn community who know large numbers of other people and who are in the habit of making introductions. Use the search feature to find LinkedIn LIONs. Invite them to connect. Repeat.
Connecting with LIONs achieves the following for you: LIONS give you access, and will be instrumental in expanding your 2nd and 3rd degree network. An employer or recruiter searching with someone with your skills will never land on you if you’re not in his 2nd or 3rd degree network. Without connecting to LIONS, 98% of recruiters will never see you at all, regardless of what else you do on LinkedIn.
